Mason also stated that mergers have been very common in Europe, with Austria and the Netherlands witnessing some major mergers that have reduced the number of providers in these nations to four and three respectively. However, the third time round, it was confirmed that something had seriously gone wrong with the O2 networks. Although the provider as usual has managed to solve the issue promptly, it has not revealed as to what the real cause behind the present malfunctioning was.

O2 every time seemed deeply apologetic for all the trouble that had been caused to its customers, but it remains to be seen if it will be able to avoid another such incident.
