Wind power by comparision is absolutely clean and the only objectiion to it,voiced by some people,is visual pollution from the arrays of wind turbines necessary for large scale power production. However there are no problems of this kind with the residential wind turbine. Small scale wind power generation is acheived with small and unobtrusive home wind turbines. A combination of home solar panels-wind turbines can produce much of the power required by the average home. You should also position your wind generator at an open space, unblocked from high buildings or trees. Most of the materials required to build your wind generator or wind turbine are easily available at the local neighborhood hardware store, amongst which you will need a motor, wiring, tower, blades, rotor, hub battery backup, tail and body assembly. Ensure that your blades are about 5 feet long so as to capture the optimal amount of wind power. All the materials add up to less than 100 dollars. Or, you may decide to merely supplement your peak power needs. At least youll be able to make an informed decision, and will know in advance how your turbine will perform for you. DIY Project Or Hire A ContractorThis is a major decision. If you are a handy person who likes major home projects, then a DIY windmill may be right for you. On the other hand, there are many good alternate energy contractors who specialize in domestic wind turbines who can help turn your project into a success - and get it completed.
