October 4th, 2009
This is Stephen A. Schwarzman’s story. Recently Stephen was ranked the 53rd richest in America by Forbes Magazine, even so it’s his exceptional achievements in the business and finance world not to mention his contributions to society that make his tale intriguing. His story illustrates that the keys to achieving success in life are hard work plus unequivocal commitment.
Stephen Schwarzman and his business partner Peter Peterson established the portfolio management and financial advisory company Blackstone Group in the eighties. More recently, it has set the pace in mergers and acquisitions, but Stephen did not start out running his own enterprise. Spending many of his early years in near Philadelphia, PA, Stephen got his schooling in suburban Philadelphia. After graduating from high school he went on to study at the legendary Yale University in Connecticut and obtained his bachelor’s degree in 1969. Harvard Business School was the obvious next stop on his fast-track to success, where he received his Master’s degree in Business Administration in 1972. Once he had finished his time at college, Stephen started his job at Lehman Brothers investment bank. By his thirty second birthday, Stephen was already a managing director.
Stephen Schwarzman supports a variety of liberal arts as well as consulting as an adjunct professor at the prestigious Yale School of Management. Furthermore, he is Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Furthermore, Stephen only last spring gifted to the New York Public Library 100 million dollars to fund their recent construction plans. He also serves on their board of trustees.
Stephen is now a role model for a new generation of business people — Times Magazine recently named him as one of the 100 most influential individuals in the world. His supremacy in the financial industry has definitely been dramatic, and his willingness to donate to his own community as illustrated by his generous gifts to the arts and education motivates people who want to emulate him.
With his dedication and his generosity of spirit, it appears as if there isn’t anything he can’t attain. Stephen Schwarzman is undoubtedly an intriguing business man whose influence can certainly be viewed in the United States of America and in the world in general.
