A Beachside Vacation in the Caymans
July 22nd, 2009
Jamaica has a beach named the Seven Mile Beach, and so does Grand Cayman in the Cayman Islands. It looks like this name is quite popular in the Caribbean. I have visited both the beaches and found both equally good. In fact the one on Grand Cayman gets extra brownie points as there are no hawkers selling their wares there and bothering you.
Our vacation this time was in the Cayman Islands and we spent our time in a luxurious seaside resort on the Seven Mile Beach. We were near the beach and could enjoy a variety of water sports right at our doorstep. We had a great time snorkeling and most evenings dined at the many restaurants along the beach.
We spent a lot of time exploring the other beaches in the area. We wanted to know if they were as good as the Seven Mile Beach. Among the first beaches that we visited was Cemetery Beach that looked like a great place to go snorkeling, and we even managed to see shoals of parrot fish in the waters. Rum Point was another beach that was about 25 miles away from where we stayed. We decided to have a picnic there and went with a picnic basket and snorkeling gear. All of us really enjoyed ourselves on the beach and also saw shoals of fish in the translucent waters.
Cayman Brac had received excellent review for its excellent diving facilities and the rugged beauty of it coastline and we decided to go there as well. Just outside the resort where we stayed, there was a small stretch of sand that had yet to be assailed by the tourism boom. It was secluded and not too crowded and seemed to be a lovely place to spend some quiet moments.
Little Cayman’s Point of Sand beach wins hands down as being one of the best beaches in the Caribbean, as far as I am concerned. One can go snorkeling on the coast off the secluded pink sand beach as well.
